dgh enterprises is a woman-owned
small business, founded by Deborah Gill-Hesselgrave in 1994.
Deborah has spent more than 20 years developing and managing
integrated, knowledge-centered programs, services, and products,
and designing tools to evaluate their effectiveness. She began
her career as a special education teacher in the Oakland Unified
School District. From there, she continued in the K-12 education
field as an editor for CTB/McGraw-Hill, where she developed
diagnostic assessment tools and wrote instructional support
materials for teachers and parents. In the mid-80s, Deborah
shifted her emphasis into the high-technology industry, where
she became a product manager for Jostens Learning Corporation
and was responsible for the development and deployment of
multimedia learning programs for students in grades K-8. In
the business arena, she has been a practitioner of and has
held senior management positions responsible for customer
support, product documentation, client training, and product
design and usability. Her corporate and independent consulting
background also includes management consulting and professional
development coaching.
Deborah is currently on the Board of Directors for the San
Diego chapters of Computer-Human Interactions (CHI) and the
Usability Professionals Association (UPA), and serves on an
Advisory Committee for National University. She is also a
founding member of the national expansion of the User Experience
SIG Group (formerly the GUI Special Interest Group of the
San Diego Software Industry Council). She is a senior member
of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) and is a
member of the San Diego Software Industry Council (SDSIC)
and the High Tech Marketing Alliance (HTMA). In her spare
time, Deborah plays tennis and softball, and is an avid hiker.
